We made it to Flat Rock, North Carolina. Going up and down the mountains wasn’t as bad as I expected. Paul did great, didn’t ride the brake and made sure he had more then enough distance between us and the other vehicles.
We are spending the night at Lakeview Resort. This seems to be half long term rental spots, half travelers and a good portion of the place set up with Park homes. The RV Park is very nice, very clean and very welcoming. The pool is shut down for the season, but some ducks were still enjoying the pond. Charlie seemed to enjoy himself and even made a couple of new friends.
We walked for a bit in this evening, taking in the cool, crisp mountain air. It will be a great night for sleeping. Fall is definitely on its way. The foliage is just starting to get a hint of color. I’m sure as we travel farther north I will spot more color in the trees. Tomorrow will take us through Tennessee and into Kentucky. Our adventure continues.
“Remember what Bilbo used to say: It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
J.R.R. Tolkien
