The surgeon came in this morning to do an endoscopy to check on the attachment of the stomach creating the new esophagus. The news is not good...
Paul has a collapsed lung and 9centimeters of the new esophagus has deteriorated and will have to be removed before it can become infected. Paul will be going back into surgery this afternoon after 3:00 pm. They will put what is left of the healthy (new esophagus) stomach back into the abdomen. A repeat surgery to rebuild a new esophagus will take place after everything is healed.
I will update later..
Jo
Until recently I was several months out of the loop with you two (heck I think it's been several years since I've seen you guys at the annual camp adventure!) but when I found this blog I read and read and read.
ReplyDeleteYou both continue to amaze me as people. The strength and love you show are amazing and I have to believe that this helps the days stay strong and is helping in this portion of your journey more than anyone can ever know or predict.
I am sending great positive thoughts and energy Paul's way today in hopes that all goes well and that, hopefully soon (in the scheme of things), you'll be able to come back east and visit us again!
Stay strong and know there are many of us following along and sending healing thoughts and love.
You are both in our thoughts. Sending you tons of love and positive thoughts. <3

ReplyDeleteLove, hugs, prayers continue. Paul seems to through curves keeping all on their toes. I am thinking back to the feeding tube challenge...It resolved after a hic-cup or two and so will this challenge. You are both in His hands along with and those of an army of friends.
ReplyDeleteTake care dear friend.
Susan
I agree with the others, these posts you are doing to keep us up to date on everything are a blessing to all of us and we really appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing to be said at this moment except that your faith in God and your love for each other will pull you both through this difficulty and we love you.
We are praying for you and thinking of you and holding faith that better days are just ahead.
With much love and gentle hugs,
Pennie and Robin
